Joan established a safe, trusting atmosphere from the beginning to allow me to discuss the issues I was dealing with and develop goals to work on over the planned sessions. After establishing goals, she kept me on track and motivated me to choose a goal to focus on. She helped me determine the true issue behind my challenges and asked me questions to help solve them. I made progress toward my goals and found myself repeating things that Joan would say to me during a coaching session. I also found that
I was less stressed by challenges as I was starting to develop a new vocabulary to dealing with issues. I’ve become more proactive about issues I see developing and continue work on improving my communication and consensus building skills to effect outcomes.

It was a unique time for to work with Joan. The tremendous amount of organizational and cultural changes within my organization brought opportunities for Joan to aid me in understanding what the changes meant for me and, ultimately, how I would want to leverage them. Every coaching session was valuable though often the thing that I needed to focus on wasn’t revealed upfront – thus making the journey of the session a key driver for positive outcomes.  I understand the triggers that prevent me from achieving my maximum potential both as a contributor to my organization and as a leader.
